Safety of Rural Indigenous Workers

To date there have been no initiatives specifically targetting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander farm workers, although this group make up a significant proportion of seasonal workers in some areas of teh country and on remote cattle stations.

Within the new phase of the National Farm Injury Prevention project there will be ongoing work in this area of engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander farm/cattle property workers in farm safety programs, and water and boat related safety with appropriately and culturally relevant and effective injury prevention resources and strategies.

Go to Farmer Resources to access the safety induction guide for Indigenous workers.
